SUMMARY:2021.10 Chamber Circle Seniors
DESCRIPTION:About the Speaker\n\nTerese Walton founded Living Made Easier after observing the unmet needs of the elderly firsthand while caring for her grandmother during her college years. Her grandmother had suffered a stroke and Terese moved in with her for the summer to help her around the house\, drive her to appointments and social engagements and arrange fun\, rehabilitative activities for them to do together. The groundwork was set\, but it would be another fifteen years before she decided to make it her life's work. \n\nTerese Walton graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1987 and began a successful sales career with top companies like A.C. Nielsen\, Helene Curtis Hair Care (now Unilever)\, Prevention Magazine and Parenting Magazine. While at Notre Dame\, community service was an underpinning of her education and she always made it a mission to volunteer in retirement communities and give back whenever she had the chance.\n\nFate stepped in\, and after a serious skiing accident in 1998\, Terese found herself at the mercy of the medical system without an oar to navigate the waters. Home health agencies were a brand new concept and a young woman did not have the knowledge nor resources to go about finding an assistant so she relied on very dedicated friends to help her. It took one full year to recover from her injury. While she was healing\, she came up with a plan to launch her business\, Living Made Easier. It first began in Dallas\, TX\, then Walton moved to Orange County California\, Chicago\, IL\, and now Georgetown\, TX. The basic services are transportation\, patient advocacy\, paperwork\, secretarial and computer services and light housekeeping and companionship. There is no minimum number of hours required to engage her services. That alone sets her apart from the other agencies. Her experience in the corporate world coupled with her own health crisis makes her a unique business owner\, and her vision is shared with the 12 independent contractors she has in both Chicago and Georgetown. \n\nTereseBiography.doc
